Fuel the Graduation Effect.

High school graduation opens so many doors. Help more students living in low-income communities get there.

When students living in low-income communities graduate from high school, their families aren’t the only ones with a reason to celebrate. Graduation is the key to a more equitable economy, a healthier population, and a better future for all Canadians.

How your support opens doors for students

When you support the award-winning Pathways to Education Program, you’re helping young people across Canada. Our combination of academic, financial, social, and one-on-one supports is proven to remove barriers to graduation and empower students to pursue their passions.

  • Through tutoring and tailored study plans, Pathways tutors and staff keep students on track with their studies. They also help youth stick to healthy routines and build habits that support learning.
  • Pathways provides students with both short- and long-term financial supports, like lunch vouchers, transit passes, and scholarships for post-secondary education or training.
  • Pathways staff connect students with mentors who can provide career guidance and advice. Pathways mentors are professionals in various fields, providing youth with valuable industry knowledge and giving them opportunities to build a network that can help them beyond high school.
  • Personalized support from a Pathways staff member ensures that all students have a trusted adult they can turn to for advice or guidance throughout their high school journey.

Our network of volunteers, staff members, and alumni grows every day with your support. Together, we can continue to have a transformative impact on young people, their communities, and our collective future.

The key to a better future starts with high school graduation.

Driving social change

When students living in low-income communities graduate from high school, they don’t just create better lives for themselves. Every diploma has the power to start a chain reaction of social change as high school graduates are more likely to vote, volunteer, donate to causes, and give back to the places they call home.

Helping youth graduate positively impacts their mental and social well-being, self-esteem, and community participation—creating a better future for us all.

Ending the cycle of poverty

Graduates are more likely to gain skilled employment, achieve food security, and live longer, healthier lives. Plus, it’s proven that they will earn more over their lifetime than their peers. This doesn’t just increase their own standard of living—it empowers others to follow the same path.

But where you live can reduce the chances you will graduate from high school. That’s why providing students living in low-income communities with the support they need to graduate high school is the first step toward poverty reduction.

Bridging the opportunity gap

High school dropout rates in low-income communities across Canada can be more than double the national average. Youth living in these communities face increased barriers to education that can stand in the way of graduating.

When students are provided with the resources and support they need to graduate from high school, they also gain the opportunity to transition to post-secondary education or training, explore different career paths, and achieve their dreams.
