If I had had more academic support when I was a teen, I'd cast my memories of high school in a brighter hue. So, as a new Pathways volunteer, I see my role as helping students step back from a problem, take a breath, consider other approaches, then go at it again before it eats away at their self-confidence. I get a real lift when a student struggling with an assignment has an a-ha moment and moves forward on their own.
